How to play Reversal Of Fortune
The player chooses their stake. Available stakes are £1, £2 and £5 (or currency equivalent).
Higher stakes allow the player to play for larger prizes.
Once selecting the required stake option, press the ‘PLAY’ button to start the game.
The game grid is then shown to the player.
Prize trail
The game prize trail for each stake is shown below:
£1 stake… (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5, £10)
£2 stake… (£2, £4, £6, £8, £10, £20)
£5 stake… (£5, £10, £15, £20, £25, £50)
(Or currency equivalent).
The player must achieve a pre-determined number of points in order to reach each prize.
Game Grid
A grid of ‘squares’ is shown to the player. Upon the initial grid display, the items within the grid are shown for a short while, then randomly scattered through the grid.
The ‘squares’ turn down to hide what is on them ready for the player to choose a grid square.
The potential choices available are:
QUESTION – The player must answer a question for a given number of points
REFLECTIONS – The player must play the ‘Reflections’ game feature to win points
PICTURE PUZZLE – The player must solves a picture puzzle to win points
PAIR ‘EM UP – The player must match pairs to win points
TRY AGAIN ICON – Player is given an additional ‘try again’
MIRROR ICON – Player is given an additional ‘mirror’ bonus
REVEAL ICON – Player is given an additional ‘reveal’ bonus
PASS ICON – Player is given an additional ‘pass’ bonus
CLOVER ICON (Live jackpot) – player is given an additional live jackpot token towards winning the live jackpot.
Bonuses
The following bonuses are available:-
Reveal – Reveals the answer to the question, or reveals the ‘answer’ to the skill feature, depending upon where within the game the bonus is used. The player IS awarded the number of points that the relevant game feature was to give.
Pass – The player can use a ‘pass’ to pass on a question, or to ‘get out’ of a skill game feature. The player is NOT awarded the relevant number of points if they pass.
Mirror – Reverses the answer text to the ‘correct way around’ if used on a question, or is used to help by reversing feature game elements to assist with solving a puzzle.
Try Again – A ‘try again’ allows the player to continue if a question is answered incorrectly.
Game Timer
Both the question screen and the feature games are played against the clock.
If the player fails to answer a question within the time limit, the game is over.
If the player fails to solve a feature game puzzle in the time limit, the game is not over; simply the player fails to gain points.
Questions
A number of ‘try agains’ are available. The game starts with up to 1 try again – further try agains are potentially available from the ‘grid’ selection screen.
If a player gets a question wrong and no try agains are remaining, then the game is over.
If the player gets the question correct then they are awarded a given number of points.
The number of points that is available from getting a question correct is shown when a ‘question’ is selected from the grid screen.
If the player fails to answer within the allotted time, then the game is over.
Reflections
The number of points that is available from solving the feature is shown when the feature is selected from the grid screen.
A number of square puzzles are shown to the left of the mirror-line. The aim is to match the squares on the left side of the mirror, with the mirrored versions on the right side of the mirror-line.
The player first selects their choice from the left side, then selects what they think is the matching square on the right side of the mirror.
The player must match ALL matching squares to win the points before the time runs out.
Pair ‘Em Up
The number of points that is available from solving the feature is shown when the feature is selected from the grid screen.
A number of panels are shown. On the reverse side of each panel is a word (mirrored). The aim is to match two panels, which contain the same text. If a match is not found, the panels turn back over. The aim is to match all available pairs to win the points before the time runs out.
Picture Puzzle
The number of points that is available from solving the feature is shown when the feature is selected from the grid screen.
An image is shown on the left side of the mirror line. Each puzzle is made of a number of pieces. The aim is to move each piece from the left side of the mirror line to the correct position in the mirrored version (on the right side of the mirror line).
The player first selects their choice of puzzle-piece from the left side of the mirror line, and would attempt to drop it in the correct location on the right side of the mirror line – so creating a mirrored version of the image.
The aim is to complete the puzzle to win the points before the time runs out.
Clearing a grid
Once a grid is cleared, the player receives a number of points in the form of a ‘grid clearance bonus’ - this is simply added to the current points value. A new grid is then shown to the player before continuing with the game.
Collect/Continue
After reaching a given number of points to pay a given prize, the player is presented with a COLLECT/CONTINUE prompt.
Selecting COLLECT increases the player fund balance by the prize amount and finishes the game.
Pressing CONTINUE allows the player to continue, with the possibility to win a larger prize from the prize trail – or indeed to lose the prize they have achieved so far if they subsequently fail to reach the next prize.
(N.B. The live jackpot once won, is not lost, even if the game is over. Only prizes from the in game prize trail are applicable to a collect/continue).
The game automatically collects when the player has reached a ‘jackpot’ (£1 stake = £10 or currency equivalent).
Live Jackpot
Collecting all 4 tokens pays the ‘live jackpot’ amount. The value of the live jackpot is shown throughout the game. The jackpot is not lost once won.
